The Second Time

The first time must have been a one-off.
A fluke.

A once-in-a-lifetime alignment of chaos and chemistry.

There’s no way it was actually that good.

We must have been out of our minds.

Lost in something that doesn’t repeat itself.
That’s what I tell myself.

Because the second time?

The second time has expectations.
And expectations are dangerous.

How does anyone beat something that already felt like too much?
Too intense. Too right. Too… complete.

The pressure sits heavy in my chest, disguised as excitement.
But this time, I came prepared.

I take my time getting ready. Slower than usual. More intentional. Every detail matters now. The kind of care that borders on ritual, shaved skin, stretched muscles, caffeine buzzing lightly through my system. I choose something that makes me feel good before anyone else even sees it.

Confidence, built carefully.
Worn like a second layer.
Still… it doesn’t quiet my mind.

Because the memories won’t leave me alone.

They loop, again and again.

Moments replaying with impossible clarity. The way things felt, the way you moved, the way everything aligned without effort.
I catch myself going back to it, re-reading, reliving, almost studying it. Like if I understand it well enough, I can recreate it.
Like it wasn’t just something that happened, but something that can be reached again.

And that thought alone is enough to make my body react, sharp and immediate.

How did I end up here?

Not just wanting it again.

but needing to know if it was real.

When I see you, everything shifts.
It’s instant.
No slow build. No hesitation.

Just a quiet, undeniable reaction that moves through me like electricity. My body knows before my mind catches up, every nerve suddenly awake, every thought narrowing down to one thing.

You.

We’re both busy.
Very busy.

Hours planned. Things that matter. Things that should hold our attention.
But they don’t.

Not really.

Because underneath it all, there’s a second conversation happening. Silent. Charged. Persistent.

Would it be worth it?

To end it early.

To drop everything halfway through.

To leave before it’s “appropriate” just to go to your place.

Just to be alone with you again.

The thought lingers.
It grows.

And before I can even decide what I’m going to do with it… I see it in you.
Same shift.

The same distraction.
The same pull.
You’re thinking about it too.

And somehow, without saying it directly, you act on it.

Just like that.

Like it was the only logical choice.

I don’t understand it.
How you do that.
How you match me so exactly it almost feels planned.
the same thoughts, the same timing, the same energy rising at the same moment.
It shouldn’t make sense.

And yet, it does.
Every time.

The second time isn’t supposed to be better.

It’s supposed to be harder. More awkward. Less perfect.

But standing there, looking at you, feeling that same tension building all over again…
I realized something.

Maybe it wasn’t a one-off.
Maybe it wasn’t luck.
Maybe it was just the beginning of something that refuses to be less than intense.

And that thought.

That possibility.
is almost worse than the pressure.

Because now I don’t just want it to be good.

I want to see how far it can go
